From the inaugural address and product vision to a live demo that turned a Trial Balance into a compliant CT return in minutes, TaxMate delivered on its promise: Simplify. Secure. Scale. The day featured a high-impact CFO panel on "Tax Tech, Data & the Future of Governance," deep-dive walkthroughs of AI red-flag alerts, maker-checker workflows, integrated TP Disclosure & Local File, and one-click FTA-aligned outputs — and a heartfelt tribute to CA Nirav Shah whose vision powered TaxMate's journey. Place of Effective Management (POEM) & its Practicalities

SBC partnered with Spectrum Audit, Consulting & Tax Accounting for the second edition of the Taxation Society — a packed-house session on Place of Effective Management (POEM) and its practical implications for UAE businesses. CA Balaram, Founding Partner at SBC Tax Consulting, led the technical deep-dive: how the UAE FTA's evolving stance interacts with OECD guidance, the seven tests for determining POEM, and the on-the-ground challenges of applying them to real group structures — from board composition and CEO mobility to bank account control, DTAA positioning and documentary evidence. The room — filled with CFOs, founders, tax heads and practitioners — engaged with sharp questions on residency risk, NIL implications and how POEM intersects with Corporate Tax compliance.
